Today we talked about Israel and Palestine. We looked at the claims to territory each side had, history of the conflict, and US involvement in the region.
Then we started watching Promises, which we will continue to watch tomorrow and Monday.
Today we talked about the spread of Islam following Muhammad's ascension to heaven. We discussed how the religion spread throughout the Middle East, discussed sectarian violence, and analyzed the motivations behind radical branches of Islam.
Tomorrow we will discuss the conflict of Israel/Palestine before starting our documentary Promises. You have a quiz on either Monday or Tuesday.
Today we talked about Islam! We looked at the early origins of the religion, fundamental beliefs, customs, and practices. We discussed Muhammad's life briefly, but mainly looked at how Islam relates to the other Abrahamic Religions.

Today we talked about the spread of Christianity throughout the Mediterranean. We compared Paul's spread of the religion to Constantine, looked at Peter (the first Pope!) and discussed the overall development of the religion through Jesus, Paul, and Constantine.
Your homework is to complete the attached reading and reading questions.
