Today we talked about Jainism. We looked at the basic beliefs and main principles of the religion, before moving back to our conversation about Hinduism. We examined personal experiences with dharma and karma in order to better understand the Gita. 

Your homework is to:
Create a modern interpretation of the Bhagavad Gita and Arjuna’s dilemma that focuses on the clash between Karma and Dharma.This can be a short story, comic, poem, song, etc

The worksheet that was assignment Friday is also due tomorrow.

Today we attempted to reach enlightenment by discussing the key fundamentals of Hinduism. We looked at the emergence of Hinduism, the goals of the religion, and the difference between dharma and karma. We talked about how Hinduism is monotheistic, but has multiple deities. 

Your homework (due Wednesday) is to complete the attached reading and question sheet.

Today we talked about social structure. We analyzed the Aryan society and talked about the purpose of the caste system. 

Your homework is to:
Draw a representation of the caste system of any social organization you’re familiar with (real or imaginary; school, job, hometown, sports, shopping malls, video games, etc.). You must have at least 5 levels

For each level:
Write a BTS arguing the role they play in the system (don’t forget a so what!)
Include 2 pieces of evidence (details) to back up your BTS

Today we talked about the Indus River Valley civilizations. We looked at the development of these civilizations, the instability of the region around them, and their incredible technology. 

Then we talked about the Aryan Migration and how it impacted these civilizations. We ended by talking about the Vedas, and read a selection from the Veda creation story.
