Draw a representation of the caste system of any social organization you’re familiar with (real or imaginary; school, job, hometown, sports, shopping malls, video games, etc.). You must have at least 5 levels
Write descriptions of the types of people (their roles and characteristics) who belong in each level of your caste system

Today we talked about South Africa and its post-colonial history. We looked at what happened after South Africa gained independence from the British, race relations during Apartheid, and South Africa's first multi-racial election! Then, in order to compare South Africa to Rwanda, we started watching Invictus. This film will allow us to see how Mandela stresses reconciliation over revenge, forgiveness over hate, and equality over oppression.

Today we talked about African Independence Movements. We looked at the Ghanaian Independence movement, and the Kenyan Independence movement. Then we created similes to compare and contrast the two movements.
Here are the instructions for the assignment, which is due Monday. The reading about both movements is also attached.
