Today we had a fascinating conversation about the basics of Hinduism, during which many of us were able to use our own knowledge to guide the discussion. We made fun of Mr. Buker's pronunciations, discussed the caste system, and ultimately decided that this conversation would be best accomplished through research and academic discourse.
Your homework (due) Wednesday is to find ONE credible source on Hinduism in regards to how we should define Hinduism: polytheistic or monotheistic?
For this, please provide a brief explanation of your stance and include an MLA formatted citation of your source.
Mr. Buker will be out for a (much needed) district training tomorrow here are the instructions for you:
Read the Ramayana Excerpt (page 130-140) in the purple World Literature Textbook.
Answer questions: 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, and 9 on page 143.
Today we were graced with the presence of the Seattle Shakespeare Company. We learned how to insult each other and how to stage fight!
Today we spent some time re-imagining how school would look it we all followed Taoist principles. Then, we started talking about Sun Tzu (Sunzi) and The Art of War. We eventually figured out how to defeat our foes.
Your homework, due Wednesday, is to:
Today we spent more time with Confucius. It was glorious.
Your homework is to annotate this excerpt of the Analects. As you do, identify examples of parallelism, maxims, Li, Yi, and Ren.
Today we got a little derailed talking about Confucius, but we had fun and still managed to learn about Chinese history, the Mandate of Heaven, and the parallelism.
You don't have any homework, so that's cool.
Today we were welcomed back from break with an exciting district post-assessment! I was a great way to demonstrate what we've learned so far in this class.
We also got back our TFA papers, which was cool.
Your homework is to read this article on ActivelyLearn and leave 5 comments.
Today we decided that we already knew everything about writing papers and that our time would be better spent choreographing and writing music for an re-imagined musical version of Things Fall Apart set in futuristic Taiwan. The year is 3030, yams have overtaken the planet. Only one man can save us. We used our time today to design costumes, build sets, and hold auditions for the role of Okonkwo. Dress rehearsal is scheduled for tomorrow, please come prepared.
Alright, fine. We spent today revising and polishing our final drafts for Things Fall Apart. You have a final work day tomorrow, with your paper being due Friday by 10pm on TII.com.
Today we worked on our TFA papers (big surprise). We also did some peer reviewing.
Your homework tonight is to complete this peer review feedback form!
