Announcement: Your FDR and WW2 quiz has been moved to Tuesday
Today we talked about empathy. We discussed why it is important, how it is different than sympathy, and why it's necessary in our lives. We looked at how empathy can be used to build relationships, make decisions, and think critically about the world around us.
Then we looked at the end of the war. We examined the Manhattan Project, the Trinity Test, and the use of the bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
On Monday we are going to have a structured discussion around the use of the bomb. Your homework over the weekend is to read the 3 arguments given to you today, as well as to find another (legitimate academic) source about the subject. I've attached a few that I found interesting below, but be aware that they contain some bias!
"Was It Right?"
"If the Atomic Bomb Had Not Been Used"
Attached is the packet you were given in class today. You only need to read the sections labeled "Options".
